Why should you visit Laguna del Tigre National Park?

It is one of the ecosystems that form the Mayan Biosphere Reserve, being the largest National Park in this system with 337,899 hectares

Of the 16 ecosystems, Laguna del Tigre National Park is home to 13 of them. In the eastern region of the park is the nesting site of the scarlet macaw, with the two most important nesting sites of this endangered species being El Perú and Peñón de Buena Vista.

How to get

To access the park you must be in Flores, Petén, take the road to La Libertad where you can choose a guided tour to the Reserve. The route does not have very good infrastructure and it could take you up to 4 hours to reach the destination, but you will not regret doing it.

Other indications are to take the route towards the El Ceibo border and there cross in Yalpiná towards the Santa Amelia crossing, close to Río Escondido.

If you are a lover of adventure and nature, this is a mandatory stop, one of the most important for adventurers of this type.

The amount of biodiversity in this region is incredible, you can enjoy bird watching and enjoy a nature in which different species of flora and fauna coexist, which has presented certain challenges in its conservation.
